A 22 year old laborer from Butler County, he enlisted as Corporal, Company D, 137th Pennsylvania Infantry on 23 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He died of disease in a hospital in Frederick, MD on 24 October 1862.

After the War

He was reinterred from his original burial in Frederick, MD to the National Cemetery in about 1867.
