Before Antietam

He mustered as Captain of Company A, 3rd NJ Infantry on 22 May 1861. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel of the regiment about a week later and to Colonel on 15 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He commanded the regiment in Maryland.

The rest of the War

He mustered out of the Regiment at the end of their 3-year term on 23 June 1864.

After the War

He apparently had at least 3 wives at one time, two of whom applied for pensions after his death.
