Before Antietam
He enlisted as Private, Company A, 7th West Virginia Infantry on about 1 August 1861.
On the Campaign
He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 24 October for "bilious fever" but died there on 9 November 1862.
After the War
He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
