Before Antietam
Age 20, he mustered in on 1 September 1862 as Private, Company B, 139th Pennsylvania Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was with his Company in Maryland but died, probably of disease, at a hospital in Hagerstown, MD on 14 November 1862.
After the War
He was initially buried in a plot near the Alms House in Hagerstown, but was reinterred at the new Antietam National Cemetery in 1866-67.
