Before Antietam
Age 23, he enlisted and mustered into service as Private, Company F, 23rd Pennsylvania Infantry on 2 August 1861 in Philadelphia.
On the Campaign
He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 8 October and died there of chronic dysentery on 16 October 1862.
After the War
He was originally buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick but was reinterred in the National Cemetery about 1867.
