Before Antietam

In 1860 he was a 21 year old farm worker living with his parents and 3 siblings on the family farm at Green Creek in Sandusky County, OH. He enlisted as a Private in Company F, 8th Ohio Infantry on 5 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

After the War

He was removed from his original burial on the battlefield to the new National Cemetery in about 1867.
