Before Antietam

A 27 year old farmer from Richland he enlisted in Oswego, NY on 7 April 1862 as a Private in Company E, 14th United States Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 24 October 1862 with chronic diarrhea or rheumatism and died there on 1 January 1863.

After the War

He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
