On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at a private house near the battlefield but died there of wounds on 1 October 1862.

After the War

He was reinterred from his original burial on or near the Antietam battlefield to the National Cemetery during or before 1867.
