From Jamestown, WI, he enlisted as Private, Company I, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry on 8 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He died of disease at Frederick, MD on 17 September 1862.

After the War

He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
