He enlisted as a Private in Company C, 12th US Infantry on 16 Apr 1862 in Austin, MO.

On the Campaign

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 24 October 1862 but died there of typhoid fever on 24 December 1862.

After the War

He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
