He was an 18 year old shoemaker from Worcester when he enlisted as Private in Company C, 15th Massachusetts Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of his wounds and was buried near the hospital. He was later reinterred from burial at Smoketown, MD
