From Vernon, he enlisted as a Private in Company B, 16th Connecticut Infantry on 15 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He died of disease at the Big Spring Hospital on the Geeting Farm at Keedysville, MD on 12 October 1862.

After the War

He was initially buried on the field near the hospital but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
