Before Antietam

A 19 year old seaman from Portland, ME, he enlisted on 6 August 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company G, 7th Maine Infantry on 21 August 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the leg in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds on 28 September 1862 and was buried on the field.

After the War

He was reinterred from his original burial on the Antietam battlefield to the National Cemetery in about 1867.
