Before Antietam
From Carbon County, he enlisted as a Private in Company G., 132nd Pennsylvania Infantry on 15 August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of his wounds at the Smoketown Hospital about 1 October 1862. Originally buried there, he was reinterred in the new National Cemetery in about 1867.
