Before Antietam
From Watertown, he enlisted on 25 April 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company D, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862 and buried on the field.
After the War
He was reinterred in the new National Cemetery in about 1867.
