Before Antietam

Age 22, he enlisted in Buffalo for three years and mustered as Sergeant, Company B, 49th New York Infantry on 28 August 1861.

On the Campaign

He died of disease at the Smoketown US Army hospital near Sharpsburg on 16 January 1863.

After the War

He was originally buried at Smoketown but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
