A 22 year old farmer in Londonderry, NH, he enlisted there on 14 April 1862 in Company G, 17th US Infantry to serve 5 years.

On the Campaign

He died, probably of disease, on 1 December 1862 in Frederick MD

After the War

He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
