Before Antietam

Age 23, he enlisted in Northumberland County on 8 August 1862 and mustered as Private, Company C, 131st Pennsylvania Infantry on 14 August 1862 in Harrisburg.

On the Campaign

He was accidentally shot in the hand and died of his wounds at Sharpsburg, MD on 6 October 1862.

After the War

He was originally buried in Sharpsburg but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
