Before Antietam

A 22 year old farmer, he enlisted as a Private in Company C, 12th United States Infantry in St. Charles, Iowa on 15 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 19 September 1862 with typhoid fever and died there on 6 October 1862.

After the War

He was reinterred from his original burial in Frederick to the National Cemetery in about 1867.
