(1815 - 1862)
Home State: New York
Command Billet: Commanding Regiment
Branch of Service: Infantry
Unit: 66th New York Infantry
Before Antietam
The 66th Infantry was organized October 29, 1861, at New York City, by the consolidation of the Mechanic Rifles, Col. James H. Bull, with the Governor's Guard, Col. Joseph C. Pinckney, of the 6th Militia, with the latter as Colonel.
On the Campaign
The Official Records Order of Battle lists Lieutenant Colonel Bull as following Captain Wehle in command of the Regiment on the Maryland Campaign, but it's not clear when that occurred. Captain Wehle makes no mention of him in his after-action report, nor is he mentioned in Brigade commander Colonel Brooke's.
The rest of the War
He was killed at the battle of Fredericksburg, VA on 13 December 1862. He was succeeded in command of the regiment there by Captain Wehle, who was also killed.
