From Dallas, he enlisted in Company B, 8th Michigan Infantry on 14 August 1862 at age 22.

On the Campaign

He died of disease at Weaverton, MD on 21 November 1862.

After the War

He was originally buried in Sandy Hook, MD but was was reinterred in the new National Cemetery in about 1867.
