Before Antietam
Age 21, he enlisted in Hazleton on 12 June 1861 and mustered into service as a Private in Company A, 28th Pennsylvania Infantry on 28 June in Philadelphia.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
After the War
He was reinterred from his original burial on the battlefield to the National Cemetery in about 1867.
