Age 18, from Butler County, he enlisted as a Private in Company G, 134th Pennsylvania Infantry on 12 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 4 November with a hernia, but died there on 7 December 1862.

After the War

He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
