Before Antietam

An 18 year old farmer, he enlisted in Cooperstown, NY on 29 March 1862 as a Private in Company D, 14th United States Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 28 October 1862 with rheumatism and died there on 4 November 1862.

After the War

He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
