Before Antietam
He mustered in as Private, Company D, 137th Pennsylvania Infantry on 23 August 1862.
On the Campaign
He died of disease at a hospital in Hagerstown, MD on 19 October 1862.
After the War
He was initially buried in a plot near the Alms House in Hagerstown. He was reinterred at the new Antietam National Cemetery in 1866-67.
