Age 21, from Lykens, he enlisted and mustered as Private, Company G, 96th Pennsylvania Infantry on 23 September 1861.

On the Campaign

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 16 November 1862 and died there, probably of disease, on 18 December 1862.

After the War

He was reinterred from his original burial in Frederick to the National Cemetery in about 1867.
