Before Antietam
He enlisted as a Private in Company I, 22nd Pennsylvania Infantry on 23 April 1861 and mustered out with them on 7 August 1861. He then enlisted as a Private in Company F, 88th Pennsylvania Infantry on 29 August 1861. He transferred to Company I in January 1862.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
