Before Antietam

He enlisted at age 31 in New York City in Company F, 66th New York Infantry on 2 October 1861. He mustered as Corporal on 4 November 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by gunshot to his right knee and thigh in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to US Army General Hospital #5 in Frederick, MD on 24 September 1862 but died there of wounds on 3 November 1862. He was reinterred from his original burial in Frederick to the new National Cemetery about 1867.
