Before Antietam
Age 22, from Saco, he mustered as Private in Company C, 5th Maine Infantry on 2 November 1861.
On the Campaign
He may have been wounded at Antietam on 17 September 1862 but he was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 18 October with typhoid fever. He died there at 7 PM on 29 October 1862.
The rest of the War
He was reinterred from his original burial in Frederick to the National Cemetery in about 1867.
