Age 18, he enlisted on 17 September 1861 at Ballston Spa for three years and mustered as Private, Company B, 77th New York Infantry on 1 October.
On the Campaign
He died of disease at Frederick, MD on 26 December 1862.
After the War
He was reinterred from his original burial in Frederick to the National Cemetery in about 1867.
