He enlisted in Company E, 13th Alabama Infantry on 12 July 1861 in Montgomery.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds before 2 October 1862 at the White House field hospital on the Line farm at Sharpsburg, and was originally buried there. His father, J.W. Burdett of Bowden, GA filed a claim for his son's final pay in August 1863.
After the War
He was probably reinterred in Hagerstown, MD in about 1874.
