A 29 year old clerk in New Orleans, he enlisted in the First Company, Washington Artillery on 26 May 1861 in New Orleans. Present on Rolls to October 1861. Promoted Sergeant on 22 October 1861.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

Originally buried "In Ben. Miller's orchard, 2d pear tree from spring house, south", near the battlefield at Sharpsburg. Probably reinterred at the Confederate Cemetery in about 1874.
