Before Sharpsburg

He was a 19 year old clerk in New Orleans when he enlisted in Company E, 5th Louisiana Infantry on 4 June 1861 at Camp Moore, LA.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at the Locust Spring Hospital on the Geeting farm near Keedysville, Md but died of wounds on 8 December 1862. He was originally buried "in the Hospital graveyard at Russer Spring". Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
