Before Sharpsburg
He was appointed 4th Sergeant, Company C, 2nd Mississippi Infantry on 1 August 1861 and his appointment was affirmed during the reorganiztion of April 1862. He was listed as 2nd Sergeant during the July/August 1862 muster.
On the Campaign
He is on the Confederate Roll of Honor (CSA General Orders No. 87, 10 December 1864) for bravery at "Boonsborough" (Fox's Gap on South Mountain), MD on 14 September. He was wounded by gunshot to the left leg in action and captured at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
His leg was amputated and he was treated at a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD from 4 October but he died there on 8 October 1862. He was originally buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick (and may still be there).
