About 28 years old, married, from Union County, he enlisted at Berlin, AR on 22 March 1862 as Private, Company B, Third Arkansas Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was listed as paroled at Keedysville, MD on 27 September 1862 and died of wounds on 27 October. He was originally buried "on west side of and in the [Mt. Olivet] cemetery at Frederick." He was probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
