A single painter, he enlisted as Private in Company C, 15th Louisiana Infantry on 2 July 1861 in New Orleans.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.
The rest of the War
He died at "Lavinia Grove's Farm". Originally buried on the field at Sharpsburg near "Mrs. Lucker's" [Locker's] barn. Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
