Before Sharpsburg
He enlisted on 26 September 1861 in DeKalb County, GA and mustered as a Private in Company A of the 38th Georgia Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was a patient in US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD and died there of typhoid fever on 6 October 1862. He was originally buried "on west side of and in the [Mt Olivet] cemetery at Frederick."
His father Boyce filed a claim for his final pay in February 1863.
After the War
He was probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
