Before Sharpsburg
A 21 year old farmer, he enlisted at Spartanburg Court House as a Private in Company H, Palmetto Sharpshooters on 23 (or 28) June 1861. He was wounded during the Seven Days' Battles, on 30 June 1862 and appointed 3rd Corporal by the end of August.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was originally buried in "Mrs. Kennedy's little orchard opposite her house" on the battlefield at Sharpsburg. Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
