He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds in September 1862. Originally buried on the field at Sharpsburg near "Mrs. Lucker's" [Locker] barn. Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
