Before Sharpsburg
From Winchester, he mustered there as Private, Company K, 5th Virginia Infantry on 18 April 1861. He was promoted to Corporal on 18 May 1862 and was wounded at Malvern Hill, VA on 1 July.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was originally buried on the field at Sharpsburg near "Mrs. Lucker's" [Locker] barn. Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
