A 25 year old laborer from from Rockbridge County, he may have had service in the Rockbridge Militia. He mustered as Private in Company G, 27th Virginia Infantry on 19 March 1862.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was originally buried on the field at Sharpsburg near "Mrs. Lucker's" [Locker] barn. Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
