He enlisted as Private, Company C, 10th Georgia Infantry on 18 May 1861.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.
The rest of the War
He died at Lavinia Grove's Farm near Sharpsburg and was probably buried originally on the battlefield at Sharpsburg and reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
