A resident of Sumter, SC in 1850, he enlisted on 4 June 1861 in Company K, 6th South Carolina Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.
The rest of the War
He was originally buried in "Mrs. Kennedy's little orchard opposite her house" on the battlefield at Sharpsburg and probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
