He was a married 38 year old farmer in Brush Valley, LA when he enlisted in Company H, 9th Louisiana Infantry on 12 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was present on the muster roll and probably present on the Maryland Campaign.

The rest of the War

He was elected 3rd Lieutenant on 18 May 1863, and 2nd Lieutenant some time afterward. He wa mortally wounded and captured at Monocacy, MD on 10 July 1864. He was admitted on that date to the USA Army General Hospital at Frederick, MD. He died on 22 July 1864. Originally buried "along the west side and in cemetery at Frederick [Maryland]". Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
