Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Company H, 3rd Arkansas Infantry at Tyro, Arkansas on 15 June 1861. He was appointed Fourth Sergeant, same day and later promoted First Sergeant (date not given).

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was paroled at Keedysville, MD on 27 September, and died of wounds on 13 October 1862. Originally buried "along the west side and in cemetery at Frederick [Maryland]". Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
