A 24 year old farmer in Rocky Mount, he enlisted in Company D, 9th Louisiana Infantry on 7 July 1861 at Camp Moore, LA.
On the Campaign
He was probably mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
The Company roll reports him as KIA at Sharpsburg, but he probably died in Frederick, MD sometime after the battle. Originally buried "along the west side and in cemetery at Frederick [Maryland]". Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
