References & notes

Burial information from Pruett,1 who has him as Private W.D. Norwood in the 3rd Virginia Infantry. No such person on rosters of 3rd Virginia and no Norwoods in Virginia service found to have died on or near the Campaign. This man is most likely, as the only W. Norwood found killed/died in Maryland in 1862. Service data from Henderson,2 who says he was "also shown to have lost arm at McDowell, Va. May 8, 1862, and to have died at home from wound."
