He was a 21 year old farmer in Natchitoches, LA when he enlisted in Company C, 9th Louisiana Infantry on 7 July 1861 at Camp Moore, LA. He reenlisted at Camp Carondelet, VA on 5 February 1862.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.
The rest of the War
Originally buried "in N.E. corner of Mrs. Lucker's house-field" on the battlefield at Sharpsburg. Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
