Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted at Charleston in Company I, Second Infantry and was appointed First Sergeant. He was elected 3rd Lieutenant on the reorganization of 13 May 1862 and promoted to 2nd Lieutenant before 17 September.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was originally buried on the field at Sharpsburg near "Mrs. Lucker's" [Locker] barn and was probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
