Age 20, from Anson County, he mustered as Private, Company F, 2nd North Carolina Infantry on 15 August 1862 in Wake County.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was originally buried "in Rev. J. J. Adams town lot, back of the M. E. Graveyard" in the town of Sharpsburg. Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
